This classically styled German lager checks all THE Bock-zes needed for a wonderful rendition of the traditional Bock style. Dark Mahogany in color and malt driven with robust flavors culled from large amounts of Vienna, Munich, Dark Munich, and Honey Malts. Subtle notes of caramel and Hallertau hops round out the flavor profile. This beer style dates back to Medieval times and was brewed, concurrently, as both a beer for special occasions and as a source of sustenance for Bavarian monks during the Lenten fast. In modern times, we may not be fasting as much but we're certainly up for celebrating special occasions. Prost!

Golden brown. Not much head. Caramelly malt character. Slightly sweet. Enough balancing bitterness. I'd prefer a richer malt character but decent for a single bock.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a near white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and bread with a bit of toffee backing. Flavor has bread and sweet grains with oak and a light caramel note underlying.
