Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains, with some vanilla, a bit of apple and a backing bourbon note. Flavor has apple, sweet grains, caramel and some bourbon in the finish.

Bottle. A- Dark fruits, caramel, rosy, whiskey, woody. A- Mahogany color, slightly hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Dark fruits, malty, caramel, bourbon, rosy, slightly sweet. P- Full body, average texture, soft carbonation, smooth finish. O- One of the sweetest and smoothest barley wines I have had to date. There is an aroma and taste that I can’t wait put together, but it’s a pleasant one at that. Can’t really tell this has been aged that much, but it’s subtly there.

22oz bomber. 35th birthday present from Elise. Thick, unfiltered viscous brown amber. Oily thin head. Rich and boozy, thick, sweet bourbon caramel tones. Tastes like they added bourbon to a beer barrel. Intense. Firmly planted in the Barley Wine style, which I fully appreciate, but also fully showing off rich barrel tones.

Big BIG thanks to Doodler for reading my mind and send me this NM barleywine. I owe you man! The gold waxed 22oz bomber pours opaque copper with gold hues and supporting a short lived tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a tart sort of red wine note and then it starts to get into some oak, vanilla and bourbon. The taste is similar where I’m getting bourbon sliding into a barrel tartness and a bit of red wine. Wow, there is no beer left here but just vanilla, bourbon and a slight infection. Sure glad I didn’t try and age this one.

Bottle as shown thanks to Kendall. Pours a murky brown with medium creamy beige head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. Thick mouthfeel with light roasted malt and caramel with light tartness in the finish. Hides alcohol decently, a good barley wine from Santa Fe.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy deep amber with an off-white head. Very sweet and oaky Bourbon aroma. Rich body, thick burned caramel, slightly woody with a massive booziness. A very typical US-style Barleywine. Nice alright but perhaps a little rough and unrefined. 250213
