The beer that started it all! Our first brew, Summit Extra Pale Ale is St. Paul’s craft beer pioneer. EPA has been gracing the pint glasses of serious beer lovers since 1986. Caramel biscuit malts balanced with a juicy citrus hop bite have led this beer to be crowned a winner through the years and for more to come!

An amber ale with a thin lacing and silky off white head. In aroma, light pinhey c-hops over caramel malt. In mouth, a nice smooth pale ale with nice restrained floral hops, light and quaffable. On tap at Ike’s MSP, Sept. 13 2009.

12 oz bottle–pours a rich foamy off white head and orange/amber color. Aroma is citrus-orange?/coppery hops, light malt-caramel/biscuity. Taste is tea-herbal/metallic/coppery, dry hops, light/medium malt. Dirty penny finish. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.

Bottle. Body is a slightly hazy brownish amber and supports a one finger head of sudsy tan. Aroma is fruit and sweet heavy... a bit of apricot, caramel, oranges and a little spice. Flavor is a little thin till the hops kick in the finish. This is highly malty (caramel) and fruity with a bit of a bitter edge at the finish side. Still, this is pretty bland and fairly uninteresting.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear copper orange with a small frothy white head. The aroma is floral hops and honey caramel. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is a crisp citrus hops with a clean dry finish. Easy to drink, a good american pale ale from Summit.

Reddish copper color with a decent beige head. Aromas of florality and caramel. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavors of roasted caramel and floral/citric hop. Kind of like a harsh ESB. Finishes mildly bitter. Tasty.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Skyview. Thanks! Pours a bronze color with a medium frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malts and faint bitter hops. Taste is an odd earthy, bean like hop note. Some citrus as well. Medium bodied.

500ml bottle. Brown-orange color. Deep malty aroma. This is quiet pleasant surprise. My first Minnesota beer, and a good one at that. Subdued solid hop presence, great example of the APA. Big malt and big hops. Earthy and mellow, not astringent or overbearing in any way. This is a great session beer.

Sampled at Hills Market beer tasting. This brew is a clear copper color with a medium and fizzy white head that burns off fairly fast. Spotty lacing on the glass. Mildly piney hops with touches of citrus in the nose. Medium-bodied with hops over sweet toffee and malt flavors. The finish is dry and short with a slight grapefruit aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Short stubby brown bottle with a twist off cap. Twist the lid for an off musty initial olfactory impact. This clears to a more hoppy aroma in the glass. A little more orange color than the ubiquitous pale yellow lager. Not quite oppressive hops, but the hop bitter bite is present. Mildly entertaining. Decent medium carbonation. Friendly at times but then it bites back. Hop bitterness is the major attribute during the finish but there is a building malt or alky back of throat bitter bite also.
