473mL can, pours a cloudy dull orange with a small white head. Nose is full of banana esters, clove, and a touch of wheaty citrus. Flavour has plenty of wheat, banana, clove, and light spiciness. Finishes dry, wheaty and touch of estery. Nothing wrong with this. Pleasant enough.

Poured from 473mL can. Hazy yellow with small white head. Lots of banana esters on the nose, some clove, wheat, a bit thin and sweet, but okay attempt at the style.

Was never quite sure if this was, or was not, the pre-existing hefeweizen. That said, here goes. Hazy and tannish sort of colour. Just a thin head, but part of that is using the same glassware for all styles, rather than one that's suited for hefeweizen. Definitely doing that banana thing on the nose. On the palate, it's quite sweet...going in that candied banana direction that a lot of mid-range weizen breweries end up in. It's not unbalanced, but definitely balanced far on the sugary end of the spectrum. A touch of wheaty acidity in the finish. I mean, I appreciate that it's a traditional take on a classic style. I can dig that. The biggest issue for me is the finish, which gets a little soupy...I wonder if it's not turning over fast enough in winter? Cause, yeah, that's diacetyl, and if you don't drink this in the first five minutes it's all she wrote.

Draught at Brewhall, Vancouver
Cloudy dark blond colour. Smells like dirty water. A hint of banana esters, but lack of yeast spiciness, of malt/wheat base, and definitively too little hopping too, hence a short finish; light bubblegum, light metallic feeling. Mediocre.
