Pours a dull amber-brown colour with lots of haze, but not much head. The aroma is interesting. There is a lot of sugar in there, along with some bright fruity hop. It's messy but strangely appetizing. On the palate, it's big. There's a decent whack of hop bitterness underneath but also a lot of sweetness. I imagine that sweetness is more from the barrel than from the malt, and there aren't a lot of chewy malt flavours. As on the nose, the hops bring a lot of bright fruit to the table. The elements are definitely incongruous, yet I don't get any clashy stuff. I swear, this concept has a lot more downside than upside, but the beer ends up coming together to be something enjoyable. I don't know how, but it does.
