Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Bright mahogany with a beige head; caramel aroma; thin, milky, body with a malty flavour and a toffee and biscuit finish. A pleasant mild.

Cask-conditioned at the Cayo Arms, Cardiff 16/05/10 as "Hanson’s Classic Mild". Reddish brown with a slight, off-white head. Raisins, apples and caramel, with a light, sweet finish. Instantly forgettable.

Draught: Deep amber coloured, small lacing white head; fruity nose with a very faint touch of roasted malt and a tinge of yeast; light dry (fruity), light bitter flavour, light bodied, not really watery; delicate, fruity-bitter finish. Not bad, but not very aromatic........
