Nectarine beer aged in Chardonnay barrels

Sun Ripened is a refreshing and light-bodied summer sipper. We aged a tart golden ale in California chardonnay barrels for six months before conditioning it on freshly harvested white nectarines and delicate chamomile flowers. Savor the interplay of ripe stone fruit and light oak; relish this glass of West Coast liquid sunshine.

355ml bottle. Slightly milky, yellow-ish golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Oaky, vinous fruity aroma, notes of white grapes, a touch of grape sugar, hints of nectarine, tart-ish hints of fruit and citric acid, some mild yeasty spiciness with a touch of white pepper and herbs. Taste is mildly tart, fruity, notes of nectarine, mirabelle, white peach, a touch of white grapes and oak, subtle sweetness with a touch of grape sugar, some Chardonnay subtleties. Watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally metallic palate (in the sense of clean surface, contaminant resistant), fine, prickly carbonation. Very nice composition, harmonious, well balanced, rather simple and free from any falderal, very refreshing and highly drinkable; absolutely unagressive, accommodating, inviting tartness. Very good.

Sampled from the tap at Brigid’s. Pours a clear amber with a gold hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of juicy tart nectarine with a bit of Chardonnay and oak underlying. Flavor is similarly full of juicy tart nectarine with a note of oaky Chardonnay backing.
