Alpha Blood

Tap at Brasserie 4:20, Roma, 22/06/13. Clear golden amber with a thin light beige head. Nose is burnt sugars, caramel, fruits, hop notes, touch of booze. Taste comprises dark toffee and caramel, booze soaked tropical fruit, demerara sugars. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet slightly cloying finish. Decent enough BW with a hoppy twist.

33 cL bottle at Archea Brewery. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is solid pine hops and dark roasted caramelish. Solid bitter, pine, woode and caramelish. Lasting dry, slight caramelish but mainly hoppy and bitter finish.

Draught @ GEIB, Grande Esposizione Italiane della Birra 2012, Nuova Fiera di Roma, via Portuense 1645, Rome, Italy 00100.Clear medium orange amber colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, riped fruit, light alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, sharp citrus, caramel, BW alike, hoppy BW, resin - pine bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121214]

02/10/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Color rosso vivo, rubino, bellissimo, lievemente torbida, schiuma bianca non molto abbondante, poco persistente. Al naso note di malto, caramello, con una sberla di luppolo memorabile che aggredisce letteralmente le narici. In bocca malto, caramello e un lungo finale luppolato molto intenso. Corpo pieno, buona carbonatazione. Barley Wine all’americana in versione estrema.
