The people of Tampa Bay have fallen prey to a pirate invasion annually for well over 100 years. After more than a century of failing to repel these seafaring raiders in their anachronistic wooden ships and despite access to modern sea, land and air arsenals that ostensibly should make short work of wind powered vessels equipped with naught but cast iron cannons and raging scurvy, it occurred to the folks of Cigar City Brewing that if you can’t beat them, start saying “Arrrr Matey!” We have brewed Invasion Pale Ale, a citrusy, tropical and low-alcohol session beer brewed for those long days of marauding, pillaging and pirating. Draft at Lupolo, 1/7/16. It pours a murky orange, with some light lace. Tropical, citrus aroma. Good hop flavor profile. Medium dry and very clean. Nice mouthfeel. Pretty nice beer. Would definitely drink again, and makes perfect sense as a crushable canned beer.

Keg at Craft Beer Co St. Mary Axe. Shared with Finn. Grey-golden body colour. Bubbly white head. Dough, fruit and bread on the nose. Refreshing flavour profile of peach, pine and lemony hops. Malt-fruity bitterness to the finish. Pleasant (London 30.11.2015).

Fra keg på Craft St Marys Axe 30 Nov 15. Delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun. Lavt skum. Søt maltaroma. Smaken virker uferdig. Maltsuppe. Lett syrlig ettersmak.

Canned on 10/19/2015.
This was poured into a becher glass.
The appearance was a light semi-burnt golden amber color with a sly carbonation running up into a quickly dissipating one finger white foamy head. Nice rings of lace slide in and around the glass.
The smell had a light dried citrus to pine aroma combining over top of some caramel malt.
The taste was semi-sweet with the bitterness displacing a well rounded malty sweet flavor. Lingering malty aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs sly with the maltiness sticking decently to my tongue.
Overall, decent APA, glad I tried but see other APA’s more desirable.

Can from Total Wine, North Miami, Florida, USA. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, tropical fruit, grapefruit aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, tropical fruit, grapefruit, juicy with a slight sweetness. I could drink this all day long, very nice indeed.

Keg at CBC holburn, aroma is nice floral, pollen, citrus, fresh hop. Translucent golden coloured pour with a lasting white frothy head. Flavour is nice citrus fruit, kiwi and watermellom, wheat grain, pithy cirrus hop bitterness. Palate is crisp and east going, highish carbonation, dryish finish. Lovely.

On tap at Craft Covent Garden, clear gold amber colour lasting white head. Very hoppy. Dry hopping comes through. Really leafy hop flavour. Like suckling dried hop flowers. Mostly grapefruit but then this hop flower flavour. Not overly intense but it’s certainly a wow type beer. Some bitterness on the finish. It’s an interesting apa no doubt.

Draft/Fest. A- Citrus, hoppy, grassy. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Bitter, pine, grassy, citrus, juicy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- After almost having Cigar City convince me I like hoppy beers, this one made me kind of plateau. Balanced and pretty refreshing though.
