The people of Tampa Bay have fallen prey to a pirate invasion annually for well over 100 years. After more than a century of failing to repel these seafaring raiders in their anachronistic wooden ships and despite access to modern sea, land and air arsenals that ostensibly should make short work of wind powered vessels equipped with naught but cast iron cannons and raging scurvy, it occurred to the folks of Cigar City Brewing that if you can’t beat them, start saying “Arrrr Matey!” We have brewed Invasion Pale Ale, a citrusy, tropical and low-alcohol session beer brewed for those long days of marauding, pillaging and pirating. Cheers!

From tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2015, Blue session. Unclear golden color with off-white head. Light hoppy aroma, floral, pine, citrus, caramel malty. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

New Beer Distributors, NYC can ($2.25): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is somewhat citrus, but has a sort of stale element that detracts from the quality. Taste is citrus. Very juicy. Not very bitter, but the hops linger into the aftertaste. Easy drinking. Not at the level I expected a Cigar City beer to be at.

Can. Pours a hazy yellow/golden color. Thin lasting head with spotty lacing. Aroma is big on floral, citrus hops. Taste follows with some grapefruit and faint lemon. A little bready as well. Nice hop bitterness. Dry finish. Very nice.

Draft at CCB.Super clear yellow on nitro so so a cascading head. Peppers, I smell and taste peppers. Flavor has zesty hops, spicy. Hints of grapefruit and earthy lingering hops giving a moderate lingering bitterness. Just not a fan of this hop combination.

Thanks to Rian for sharing. Intense fruity nose. Great intense bitter floral beginning. Round, not too deep in body, fresh, floral with lots of citrus. Nice bitterness, slightly sweetish body, nice bitterness, round, fresh, intense!

Canned1/21/15 Slightly hazy gold with an off-white head. Aroma is the fruit stand in the pines again. Over by the fresh pineapple, mango and grapefruits. Light hops and light malt in good balance with some dryness in the finish. Very sessionable.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was bitter pine, catbox and tropical fruit. The flavor was bitter pine, tropical fruits, cactus and catbox with a tangy and semi sweet undertone. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.
