California Common is our brewer Eloise's creation. Eloise grew up on the West Coast and loves the toasted malt and caramel flavours of ‘steam beers’. Eloise has brewed our version with lager yeast at ale fermentation temperatures to give you a beer loaded with a fragrant hop aroma and a slight caramel edge, for laid-back supping!

You know you've arrived as a faux-craft brewery when you unleash your California Common. Okay, I felt a bit mean writing this because this is actually a good beer. Brownish gold and clear with a small white head and decent lacing. Aroma is full of that slightly souring note of Everards yeast which does this recipe no favors. However the taste is a revelation. Sweet, nutty and malty. Absolutely relevatory stuff. Departs with notes of almond and Horlicks. Light body, medium carbonation. Everards have hits and many misses nut this is a recipe they were made for.
