Very dark brown, suitably translucent with a small khaki head. Scent of smoky malt aroma, some blackberry, a touch of balsamic vinegar. Bitter/sour taste, mote ginger and a touch of tobacco near the finish. Good but I wonder if the sourness is intentional or just bad conditioning. It calms a bit after a while so I'm guessing the former. Anyway it's an odd beer, not the best I've tried from Everards but certainly not one I'd have again.
