A traditional Scottish 80/- (shilling) ale with a twist, namely we've added lots of black treacle for even more body, plus it's bittered with classic Goldings then late dry hopped with Cascade, Mosaic and Idaho 7. We've followed the strict rules of a 80/-, namely O.G-P.Gs and ABs plus the EBUs, and after having a little tipple from the racking tank can confirm it's a rich malt forward chestnut ale, with complex flavours of sweet liquorice, caramel, and treacle, tempered with a pleasant gentle fruity/ citrus hop finish.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Russet brown and mostly clear with a small beige head. Astringent aroma, some honey, hay, leather. Tastes sweet with an intense bitter/sourness nearer the finish. Woody and berry notes in the aftertaste. Light body, no carbonation. A little bit of a tough sell.
