Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface leaving scant sheets. Vanilla, oak, and bourbon aromas. Dark molasses, caramel and espresso upfront turning to pit fruit, hot chocolate and vanilla in the lasting finish.

$4.60 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours thick and black with a slow-rising, small dark brown head. Aroma is sweet bourbon, vanilla, coffee, caramel. Flavor is sweet raisin, vanilla, chocolate, coffee. A bit on the sweet side, but not too much so. Quite tasty!!

Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer 2016 amber cola pour with a thin mocha head. Aromas of bourbon chocolate mild coffee and roasted malt. Taste is thin notes of bakers chocolate mild oak and some bourbon in the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Unearthed Stout - Barrel Aged on 18 Feb 2018 at 19:39 - Score: 8

12 oz. bottle. The aroma is weak oak, maple syrup, weak roast, musty oak. The flavor is decent roasted backbone, the oak is the largest aspect. The texture and mouthfeel is pretty thin. Carbonation on the low end. Maybe creamy/ kind of average mouthfeel.
I drink a lot of bourbon barrel aged stout and got to say where is the bourbon? Overall, slightly above average at best.

This was poured into a mini snifter.
The appearance was a jet black color with no head but light alcohol strings glaze the sides of the snifter.
The aroma starts with molasses, honey and maple syrup that overturn boozy barrels of oak. Normal \"unearthed\" rugged roastiness. Light vanilla.
The flavor leans okay dry sweet with the molasses, honey, maple syrup and boozy oak to enlighten a sweet sticky oaky aftertaste leading into a sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping smooth quality about it. Despite the boozy aroma and flavor, the texture is just so damn smooth. Carbonation felt fairly low.
Overall, really nice Imperial Stout but my only question for Long Trail is: did they age an early batch of Unearthed? In other words, why is a beer like this so smoothed out right now? Just seems super early for an imperial stout to feel this way.
