Bottle from Chester Beer and Wine. Light cloudy gold, small white head, decent retention. Aroma has a graininess, citrus and flora. Taste has a doughy and light toastiness in the malts, some toffee, grassy and light floral hops leaving a modest bitterness. Light to medium bodied, nicely carbonated. A little bit malty for a blonde but as a trad ale generally its quite nice.

Clear yellow colour with lasting foamy head. Aroma and flavour have some grassy notes and a touch of apple pip. Dry finish.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. There’s summer fruits in the aroma here, plus some hints of citrus. In the mouth it is sweet and fruity with oranges, lemongrass and some underlying caramel. Finish is sweet and slightly dry. Golden ales are are much too ubiquitous in my view, but this is a decent example.

Cask @ The Fox, Newport, Shropshire. Pours clear gold, foamy white head. Distant yeasty nose. Taste is clean, light, thin, safe.. airy feel, extremely light drinkability.. not a lot too it really, but seems to suit the Brunning and Price clientele.

Half-pint, cask at Architect. Shared with Finn. Crocheted lacing from a filmy layer, clear golden body. Moderate aromas of floral hops. Blended taste of honeyed sweet malts and oily hops, hints of grain. Mid-dry, mild fruity ending. Fair enough (Chester 26.01.2020).

On cask at the Architect, Chester. Appearance - golden with a nice lacy head. Nose - floral and citrus. Taste - more lemon and cereal. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good solid ale. Golden ale by numbers basically.
