Cream Ale is one of the few beer styles to originate in the US, and one rooted in mystery. The style has many interpretations, and few brewers can agree to all the ingredient and process variables. Also, the word "cream" itself is descriptive, and not based on ingredients or process. However, we can all agree it's a mashup of lager and ale, showcasing the best of both worlds. Notch Reel to Reel is a wildly refreshing beer that has a slight fruit and sweet aroma, mixed in with some pepper and bread. It's lighter bodied, crisp, never fatiguing and built for hot summer August days while lounging in the backyard kiddie pool.

Brighton draught, 4/20/25.
Clear brass. Small, spotty, white head.
Rich corn and big graininess from the barley with low hop, rich yeast and lingering vanilla and white bread.
Flour/powdered sugar notes up front are off-putting but its soft and malty with good depth on the end and good attenuation. Rich grains, corn, vanilla, malt and such make it very robustly drinkable but never quite shakes the weird flour character up front.

Pours clear gold into an English pint. Creamy white head with medium retention recedes leaving no lacing. Hay and corn aromas. Medium bodied with wet straw, sourdough, and mild crunch n munch. Still a step above a screamer... those were some tough morning afters...
