Cask at NWAF, 2011. Dark brown pour with a reddish tint, no head. Vanilla, a little sweet spice aroma with some light coffee notes. Coffee, vanilla and roasted malt flavours. Classic porter taste. Malty, dry finish.

Bottle, Empire Wines, Birmingham. Poured a reddy brown, with a foamy head which vanished to nothing. Some malt and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Very gassy mouthfeel and the sourness dominates any fruit that tries to break through in the flavour. Maybe this had a bad ride home in the car or something, but I didn’t really enjoy this.....Conwy is a beaut spot though.....

Bottle from the Little Beer Shoppe, Ludlow, Salop, 05-04-08 Pours mid/dark amber with off white head and good clarity looks more like a bitter than a porter. Taste is initially a little sour but most interesting with some woodiness and easy going malts too. This grows on yer’ initially I was a little dismissive, but the tanginess and loose fruity flavours grew on me, not bad.

Bottle at Kookfest 06. Deep brown, thin beige head. Very good sour aroma. Sharp, dark sugar flavour, interesting. Sourness doesn’t get out of hand. Bit of farmyard on sour aroma. Excellent, interesting beer. Well constructed and good balance.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, London
Dark brown color. Light aroma of caramel, alcohol and apples. Soft mouthfeel, a lot of caramel, initially the bitterness is low, some apple fruitness. Easily drinkable, quite good.
