Double IPA bourbon barrel aged with dry hop for nine months.

This recipe was our second Imperial IPA ever brewed, created to celebrate the survival of our second year in business. It was first brewed on March 7, 2005. The brewing process for this batch involved only using the first three quarters of wort from the mash, and then doubling the boil time. Then, this Imperial IPA was aged in Bourbon Barrels for 8 months with plentiful dry hop additions added to the barrel.

Cloudy orange - brown beer. Caramel and hops on the nose. Slight soft palate, semi dry with low carbonation. Rich caramel malt with deep rich hops underneath, not that fruity but providing good bitterness. Carries on with more creamy caramel and a little sour note. Aniseed alohol at the end. Full on! A barleywine all the way!

Big thanks to Kyle for sharing this one! Poured a clear deep amer with a white head that dissipated quickly to the edge. Aroma was full of grape fruit with some pine, a bit of yeast and a bit of a booze/bourbon kick. Flavor was a strong combination of pine and grapefruit with a good amount of bourbon coming out in the finish.

Bottle shared by Floydster at the Stone Sourfest! Pours with a small white head over a clear golden body. Aroma of bourbon, hops, oak,and caramel. Taste is bourbon, citrus hops and caramel. Medium to low carbonation. I like bourbon, I like hops, and I like this.
