Opaque black, beige head.
Lots f burnt/roasted malt, light piney hops. Bitter cocoa, coffee, minimal hops. This is more of a hoppy porter or stout than a black ipa. Ot hoppy enough.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Fresh Market, Bedford. Appearance is clear, dark reddish brown with no sparkle, 1/2-finger width foamy beige head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, up to the edge of being burnt, molasses. Taste is relatively muted ashy/roasted malt with molasses and bitter ending. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with watery texture, soft-to-average carbonation and bittersweet roasted malty finish. Overall, showed some early promise but ended up being an underwhelming offering that I am finding all to prevalent from this brewer.

Pitch black pour with a thick mocha head and great retention. Spotty lacing. Charred malts and light hops flavors. More dark than hops. A good mix of styles. Best black IPA I’ve had.

Dark brown color, small brownish head. Cocoa, toasted malts, caramel. Medium-bodied. Licorice, some toasted malts, licorice candy. Lacks some hops for being a good black IPA.
