Avancé is a strong, sour ale with aromas of strawberry preserves and toasted oak. Berries and more oak continue in the flavor, which concludes with a warm, sweet finish. The beer is brewed with multiple sugars including molasses, date sugar, white cane sugar, and dark rock candi. It’s then fermented with four different yeast strains and aged in oak bourbon barrels for a year with Lactobacillus and Pediococcus. After transferring the beer to stainless we add one pound per gallon of fresh, locally picked strawberries and age it for another six months.

Bottle 375ml @ Cunningham. Pours slightly hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, strawberry, plastic, tart and funk. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium sour with a long tart, strawberry and funky finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Strawberries has never been a favorite off mine in beer.

Nice tasty beer. The best strawberry beer I have had Unclear amber ish pour and small head on top Fine intensity in the aroma Pleasant dry and a fine acidity Also a fine carbonation level. Easy to drink. Mild strawberry, fruity, yeast, some toffee and some funk in the flavor. [Bottle – shared by Yngwie and Meilby]

Bottle, 375ml corked. A hazy golden beer with a reddish hue. Small, dense light beige head. The aroma has a decent touch of ripe strawberries, and a touch of burnt plastic. With lemon and some grassy, hayish hints. Tart and full to medium bodied, with a pleasant carbonation. Berries, some toffee-ish malts and a pleasant but gentle funk. Hints of vinegar. Lasting finish. Sure a decent strawberry beer, avoiding the strawberries smelling and tasting like rottening strawberry. 240726

375ml bottle from Beer Merchants. It pours lightly hazy orangey - amber with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, sour, tart, tangy, ripe strawberry, strawberry jam, strawberry shortcake, honeyed grain, brioche, vanilla, funk as it warms, touch of bourbon soaked oak, touch of spice and some heady booze. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy upfront, lovely bright fresh strawberry, fresh red berry, light raspberry, minimal acidity, fruit cake, nip of alcohol booze, dry oak, earth, tannin, touch of funk, oily, honeyed vibe and light spice with a drying finale. Medium body and soft, but lifting carbonation. Really like the combo of the base beer, aging and strawberry. Works surprisingly well. Quaffable.

8% ABV. Aromas are a pleasant, interesting blend of strawberries, malt and sour. Flavors are similar to nose, tart dominates and then strawberry and malt in the background. A little fruity sweet in the back but dry overall.

On tap at the Ginger Man, pours a hazy amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out wild yeast, tart strawberries, and a touch of bourbon. Flavour is unbelievably complex and multifaceted, with an incredibly cohesive mix of bourbon barrels, tart strawberries, and some wild yeast. Nicely acidic, with wonderful strawberries and bourbon on the finish. Fantastic.
