Bottled picked up at a dramfool stall. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small yellow - beige head. The aroma is warming bonfire smoke, ashy, medicinal, meaty, honey glazed ham, toasted oak, toffee and maple. The taste is dry and toothy upfront, warming spice, light tannin, nice hit of peat reek, warming oak smoke, bonfire, medicinal accents, bitter - sweet character, smoked ham, fruit cake, hint of marzipan and some alcohol warmth with a drying, toothy oaky finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Barrel aging works very well with the base beer. Moreish.
