Ruby red in colour with a robust bitterness that is offset by a slightly sweet finish owing to the inclusion of Muscovado sugar in the recipe.

Bottle from the Black Toad. Appearance - deep amber, perhaps a shade of red. Off white creamy head. Nose - chewy toffee, dried orange and brown bread. Prunes or raisins suggestion. Taste - dried fruit, light citrus and mainly chewy toffee and malt loaf. Palate - chewy texture, medium bodied. Light bitterness on the finish. Overall - great beer and on style.

Cask @ Wharf, Manchester. Ruby-brown with a creamy-frothy head. Has an initial malty sweetness that leads to a high bitterness to finish.

On gravity at the Great Welsh Beer Festival, 6/6/2013. Ruby red with a slight, off-white head. Sweet and malty brew, with a touch of fruit and slightly earthy edge. Not for me.

Shared with Finn, cask, handpulled at NWAF. Naked top to a deep, ruby brown body. Smell of dark berries. Taste of dark fruits and dark berries leading to an ending containing bitter liquorice. Different and rather exciting (Manchester, 24.01.2013).
