In french: Lot 08-04, Best Before Agust 2009... Beautiful orange tinted amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head and a bunch of bubbles rising from the bottom - very nice! Aroma of fresh malt, light hops, caramel, figs, alcohol and some cognac. Full-bodied; Strong alcoholic and malty flavour with a good deal of raisins and pit fruits coming afterwards. Aftertaste shows a little bit of hops and a more robust fruitiness. Overall, a good beer, a bit strong, but the flavours are large and complex! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia on 30-October-2008, drunk at home in Washington on 14-January-2009.

Bottled, brought by skortila. Cloudy orange color, medium off-white head. Yeasty aroma, some orange and caramel malt. Bit sweet taste, bit spicy. Not very interesting.

Cloudy amber color; the big head, frothy, disappears quickly and almost completely; the persistent perlage maintains some islands on the surface. It has a medium aroma, Belgian, lightly woody and fruity, even with very light ammonia. It has a medium mouthfeel, with some residual sweetness, light malt flavor and some disappointing vegetables touch (pea soup, carrots…); overall the flavor is not bad, but quite boring. In the final the high level of carbonation is still pricking the tongue; the alcohol starts warming the mouth; it has an ordinary bitterness. A Strong Ale below average.
