This month we highlight the German yeast ale strain WY1007. This yeast delivers low levels of esters giving a subtle fruity flavour to this sweet and malty beer. Traditionally brewed in NE France during the winter and spring months it is is often known as a beer for keeping.

Bottle from Beer Club. Appearance - hazy amber with a thin but attractive head. Nose - burnt bread, candied citrus. Taste - caramel, dried orange and honey. Spicy undernote. Palate - medium bodied, tangy middle and finish. The initial sweetness is swept away quite nicely. Overall - a little challenging but good.
