This beer is a classic West Coast IPA, a style which originates from the famous Californian breweries on the West Coast of America such as Sierra Nevada, Stone and Lagunitas. Liberally hopped with US varieties including Columbus and Centennial, the beer has an assertive bitterness at the fore, followed by resinous pine flavours. An aftertaste of bitter orange and grapefruit balances with the sweetness of the crystal malt and the body provided by the generous abv. A neutral yeast strain allows the malt and hops to do the talking.

Bottle from Beer Club. Appearance - deep amber and slightly cloudy. Creamy white head. Nose - orange and fruit cake. Taste - big cakey notes. Dried orange, light raisin and sweet spices (possibly nutmeg). Palate - medium bodied, lightly sweet through the middle, then dry, slightly roasty finish. Overall - good. Not so typical of West Coast in my opinion. Has elements of ESB.
