Bottle thanks to mora2000. Pours with a black body and a large brown head. Nice lacing. Aromas of chocolate, oatmeal, dark fruits, sarsaparilla, mocha, dusty chocolate, raisins and currants. Flavors are rich, chocolate, dusty, smokey and a bit ashy in the mid palate, a bit of baked bread and bitter coffee. Fudge. Very earthy. Lively bubbles for the style, but they come across creamy. Well made and bottled Texas beer!

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep dark with mocha head. The aroma has dark roasted malts, some chocolate, some dark fruity esters, caramel and a touch of booze. The taste is pretty rich with dark roastiness, dark chocolate, fudge brownie as well as lesser amounts of coffee, toffee and some chocolate covered malt balls. Very nice.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is smooth burnt malt. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is strongly burnt malt, and it’s a little harsh. Finishes with hints of coffee. This is a sturdy IS. Very nice.

On tap at flying saucer. Pours a dark browm with a medium creamy tan head that leaves good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a roasted malt with chocolate nuts and coffee. Medium mouthfeel with a roasted malt with a nice dry finish. Hides the alcohol decently. Good stout from independence.
