Cheap single from Craft Beer Cellar in Dallas. A couple month under my desk at work, luggage trip home, two weeks in the fridge & now into my pint glass. Dark brown, opaque, cola-colored pour with a moderately bubbly, scummy, tan head. Slight smoke & sugary malt nose with a twinge of herbal. Sweet & smokey turning bittersweet char upfront, burnt sugar, burnt oats, bitter chocolate, a drip of cream; the chocolate lingers. Bit of a bitter Aspirin thing on the tail. Heavy body & an a boozy-ness that doesn't contribute anything. Okay.

12 oz. bottle purchased in San Antonio, TX. Pours a dark black color with ruby highlights and a huge tan head and excellent retention. Limited lacing. Roasty aroma. Charred malt and oats flavor. Dark, dark, and more dark and minimal dark bitter chocolate. Pretty smooth for 8.0% ABV; Adds just a touch of warmth.

On tap at Independent, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out lots of oatmeal and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is robust, with lots of dry oats, toasted malt and a bit of hoppy bitterness for good balance. Bone dry but hearty and full-bodied. A fantastic example of the style.

33 cl bottle @ home. Thanks Timo A!
No ABV or BBE info on bottle
Aroma has cocoa, some hay and some chocolate. Fizzy and somewhat foamy palate. Flavour has artifical vanilla, some salty licorice and mild pot coffee tones. Also some lactic acid – I wonder if there’s even a small contamination here. The amount of CO2 tries to ruin the show here.

Tap at The Brass Tap, Austin. Dark brown color, not much head. Rye bready, toasted aroma. Medium-bodied. Burned malty, a bit boozy, bready flavor. Oat makes this smooth. Not so balanced for my liking but ok.
