22 ounce bottle into tulip, 2010 vintage. Pours clear dark red color with a small 1 finger light tan head with good retention that reduces to a ring of lacing. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas of big pear, tart raspberry, chocolate, earth, oak, molasses, light vinegar, and light spices. Nice and very fruity aromas as expected. Smells very authentic. Taste of oak, raspberry, pear, earth, chocolate, molasses, oak, spices, and light pepper. Fairly dry on the finish; with light lingering notes of pear, raspberry, oak, and light spices for a bit. Good flavor balance and complexity; without being cloying. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly syrupy mouthfeel as expected. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming after the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. Overall this is a very solid fruit beer. Nice complexity and balance; and very smooth to drink. Enjoyable stuff.

Draft at Dexters. Deep burgundy color, thin oily head. Awesome fruity aroma..apple, pear, melon..wow. For all the nice aromatics this is a pretty thin, simple beer. Thin and watery, almost like a super session beer that has been tweaked out. Lots of grape tones. Mild pear notes shine through. Some white wine/champagne action as well. Enjoyable, but not worth 8.75 a pour.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick, very fast-dying tan head. Aroma of figs, pears, apricots, peaches, alcohol, prunes, raisins and more figs - potent! Light to Medium-bodied; A lot of fruit flavours at first with a little undefined maltiness and empiness soon afterwards - not much aside from the fruit tastes. Aftertaste is mild and a bit bland - only the fruits, which are potent, but barely noticeable extend on the outer reaches of the taste. Overall, a great smelling beer, but there is not enough malt depth and complexity to make this a great beer - sad, but true. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased on 06-November-2010 from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan for US$13.99 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 12-November-2011.

On draught at 1808 Bistro, served in a snifter. The beer is a reddish cola color with a medium thin khaki head that burns away rather quickly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Raspberries, malt and faint yeast in the nose. Medium body with a moderately tart raspberry character and flavors of malt, yeast and a touch of oak. The finish is fruity with a lingering berry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Dark murky brown color, tan coca-cola style head. Aroma of bittersweet raspberries, blueberries. Taste is an odd combo of sweet and sour fruit, vanilla, port. Not sure what to think of this one.

Bottle. Pours a near clear deep red with a slight brown hue and a gray head that starts at the edges and dissipates. Aroma has some red fruits with a bit of dry red wine and a muddled light fruit backing. Flavor has some dry berries and a bit of pear with some sweet grains. The beer was quite muddled and a bit off.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark ruby red with a creamy beige head. Strong raspberry aroma. Near med body with mild carb. Flavor is raspberry, leather/tobacco. Pear? Maybe. It’s one complicated beer. Very nice.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep ruby with tan head. The aroma is rich fruity candy with raspberry, blueberry, fig and some sweet malt and caramel notes. These notes don’t seem to play well together. They seem at odds. The taste is the same with loads of the same fruity candy mixing with caramel, mild wood and sweet malts. There’s some hostility between the these notes keeping the experience a far from harmonious.

Aroma: The nose is sweet, heavy grape juice, some malts, wood, pear, and some berries too
Appearance: It pours a reddish, almost purple, color with a thin, quickly dissipating, beige head
Flavor: It tastes rather sweet as well, definite grape presence, lots of fruit flavors and lots of malts
Palate: A light-medium body, is slightly watery, with low carbonation, a generally wine-like mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Overall, this stuff is for sure unusual. Almost a mixture of wine and beer, it is interesting, but not necessarily my thing. I give them good marks for making something different though.
