Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a thin white head. The nose is wheat, dough, spice, light fruitiness and over-ripe banana. The taste is wheat, spice, dough, metal, hay, straw and citrus pith, with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. So-so.

Bottle at home in London. Pours a hazy, shiny gold with a bulging, white foam head. The aroma is spot-on for a hefe, with yeast, wheat, clove, banana and orange. Nice flavor, light to medium sweet with dry wheat, yeast, subtle grass, clove. It’s definitely a bit more bitter than a traditional German hefe, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Dry, fairly sweet to finish with dusty wheat, light toast, some salty hay. some minerals, light fruits, soft banana and citrus, dry yeast. A decent take on the hefe style. Perhaps a touch too dry, but overall I liked it.
