An amber English-style ale that has a nice balance between hops and malt. It's the most popular of our beers and the most versatile in terms of pairing with food or people.

courtesy of markwise. pours amber, white head aroma bandaid nose and some lingering hops and sweet doughy malts. flavor, hoppy, some soapy/citrus like notes followed by interesting bready malts giving the beer a mild cocoa nibs mouthfeel and finishing with a tad of bitter hops. flavor definitely makes up for the weak aroma.

Bottle: This beer poured a orange amber with an off white head. The aroma is light sweet caramel malt. The taste is malty, light caramel, and balanced bitter hops.

A very average pale ale. Had some on tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a light amber with a soft white head. Nose of mild hops. Flavor is not complex but nicely balanced. Good, crisp finish and pleasant aftertaste. Definitely for sessioning or food accompaniment.

(Draught) Poured amber and hazy. Head dense, white and medium sized. Aroma had mild hoppiness and clear malty notes. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. There were malts, hops, fruitiness, bitterness and some grass in taste. Aftertaste was mainly bitter. Tasted quite good but lacked balance.

July 2009 Beer of the Month Club , 8/3/09
Aroma: Citrus, spice, bready, other fruits
Appearance: Hazy orange-amber color, 1/2 inch foamy white head, lots of lacing
Flavor: Light hop taste, bit of spice malts, light, a touch dull for me
Palate: Lightish body, clean, easy to drink
Overall Impression: A bit dull for me, but not bad. I just would prefer a bit more character across the board...

Bottle. Pours with a very large and rocky off-white head that slowly diminishes over a clear penny colored body. Good, maybe even great lace. Aroma of orange, caramel, citrus, zest, herbal, light yeast and a spicy malt profile. Softer notes of honey, plastic, apricot, and various florals. Taste is nutty and woody with notes of earth, pine and plastic. Lively carbonation with a dry and light finish.

Big thanks to puzzl for the opportunity to taste this one! Good attractive bready yeasty dough aroma. Pale orange and brownish with a slight haze. Interestingly bitter on the initial taste but not excessive. Yes, hoppy bitter, but not quite IPA territory. Surprisingly good creamy carbonation. Lingering hop bitter finish.

Weak malt arom, slightly tinny. Golden color, medium head, tons of yeast sediment, good lacing. Grainy and worty flavor, watery mouthfeel. Light grass on the palate. Underhopped and under fermented. Bleh.

Rerate 5/29/10. 12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin head that sticks around a while. Decent lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and peachy, earthy hop notes. The taste is leafy hops, caramel, toasted malts. Medium bodied. Not as highly rated as before but still a good, tasty easygoing beer. 7/3/7/3/15
Original rating 10/30/07... 7/4/8/4/17 Bottle. 59th percentile doesnβt do this justice. Pours a peachy-brown color with a small but long-lasting head and decent lacing. Aroma is hoppy toffee flowery. Taste is more of the same... a toffee taste with a light but very present hop profile. Maybe my taste is out of the mainstream, but this is one of my favorite examples of one of my favorite styles. Well done!
