This beer is a murky dark brownish-amber color with a medium creamy light beige head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roast malt, fruit and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, earthy hops and oak. The finish is mildly boozy with an oaky bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

22oz bomber picked up at Perry’s in Livermore over a year ago. It pours with a dark mahogany body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma is full up bourbon booze and vanilla as well as just a touch of spicy oak in the background. The taste has sweet malt soaked raisins and prunes and a bit of caramel. It quickly pulls up smooth sweet bourbon thinly ringed by vanilla and ends a little on the dry side. It seems boozy and bourbon-y but the more I drink the more I’m picking up the depth and rich beer notes.

Aroma has ripe fruits, American hops, woody notes and vanilla. Flavour has hops, gooseberry bushm fruits, resin and somewhat harsh malt. Barley wine in American way. This one has sometihng common with Cuvee de Tomme – but this is not that intensive. Good stuff anyway.

Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of sweet syrupy malts, toffee, caramel and sugar. Taste is sweet and sticky with notes of syrupy malts, toffee and caramel. Finish is stingy and sticky with hops, warming alcohol, syrupy malts and caramel. Too sweet for my taste.

Bottled at PBF, thanks to baggio’s American friend whose name escapes at this time of the night. Hazy mahogany colour, small head. Bourbony caramel aroma. Sweet, full bodied, well rounded mouthfeel. Fudge wrapped in vanilla with heating bourbon and white pepper. Despite the sweet soft mouthfeel the heat of the bourbon takes over.

Bottled 0,66l (PBF, barrel aged and vintage 2011)
Deep ruby color, small beige head, Vanilla, toffee and bourbon in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lots of bourbon in the flavor, even pure, burning alcohol, vanilla. Way too alcoholic still although quite good.
