Tasting at Papsø’s
Black color. Mild aroma of roasted malt, perfume, almost sour. Flavor of roasted malt, cheapest chocolate, some vanilla; dry; it has correct bitterness and some acidity.
It reminds me of chocolate coated orange wedges. Messy, unpleasant.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Elwood. Pours black with a beige head. Sweet chocolate aroma and roast, but also has a slightly tart edge to it. Medium body, some roast, quite some spice - which? - and again a slight tartness to it. A very odd Stout. 160612

Bomber from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA opened 7/2/11. Pours pitch black with a dark brown fizzy head. Below average head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, chocolate, soy, smoke and a sweet sugary note. The taste is chocolate, cocoa, bitter roasted malts, coffee, nutty notes and a lactic note in the finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice thick foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of black chocolate is quite intense with nice notes of dry roasted malt and some lactose. Taste is a nice mix of black chocolate malt with light dry roasted malt notes with a semi-sweet finish. Body is quite full with some creamy notes and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed for style and something I could drink on a regular basis.

22 ounce bottle into snifter. Pours very dark brown color with a dense 1 finger tan head with good retention. A thin lacing cap lingers for the remainder of the glass. Aromas of strong milk and dark chocolate; with some roasted malt and caramel as well. Not very complex here, but it sure smells damn good, like a tootsie roll. Taste of strong chocolate once again, with some roasted malts and caramel. Maybe a bit of dark fruits and coffee mixed in there as well. A very small amount of bitterness is present on the finish, but isn’t around for long. Lots of roasted and chocolate flavor lingers after the finish. No alcohol noticed in the taste at all, but a decent warming is present on the finish. Medium carbonation with a fairly full and creamy body. Very smooth drinking as well for the alcohol level. Overall, quite an tasty chocolate stout, nice smoothness and good balance.

Opaque black pour with an average sized tan head. Soft cocoa aroma. The flavor is chocolate, some vanilla, cherry and alcohol. Not what I was expecting but very drinkable. Interesting flavor.

Bottle thanks to someone. Interesting, maybe a gimmicky beer, but not an RIS. Pours with a deep brown body and a tan head. Aromas are incredibly specific: cocoa nibs, dusty cocoa powder. Incredibly intense and insane! Some chewy notes with tootsie roll notes. Flavors are chocolate, dusty, leather and cocoa powder. Dry, with a chewy milk chocolate note. Different to say the least!
