Wisteria Wheat is an ale to be shared with friends. It's bright golden color and subtle notes of banana & clove make it a fine compliment to any backyard affair.

Pours a hazy straw from a tap. Aroma lightly floral. Flavor is heavy flower, some pear and quince. Very sweet and light. Meh.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Sweet banana a clove (and wisteria?) aroma. Pale and hazy gold. Thin white head is short lived. Sweet with a sour edge. Although it’s the hit of carbonation which makes the initial impact. The banana and cloves then come through. Relatively light bodied. Slick. A dry finish. Good stuff.

355ml bottle @ Annie’s Burger Shack, Nottingham. Pours hazy gold with white head. Fair whiff of gooey banana and sherbet. Decent enough wheat taste, minimal spice. Easy-drinking, moderately sweet with the slightest touch of yeast.

Keg from Jake’s Place. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Average carbonation. Light lacing. Mild aroma of caramel and chalky wheat. The flavour is chalk, wood, pale malt, candy floss, banana and cloves. Thin to medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation. A good attempt but a long way off the best German Hefeweizens.

355ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average, creamy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Moderately sweet wheaty aroma, bubblegum, a floral touch, a spicy touch of mustard. Taste is moderately sweet wheat malty, bubblegum, a floral touch, fruity notes of citrus and gooseberry. Slightly artificial and simply not my taste.

355ml bottle. Pours a cloudy red/amber with a huge head. The nose is very savoury with ripe apple fruit coming to the fore as the head slightly ebbs away. The taste is definitely more fruity and has the expected wheat beer sweetness, again stewed fruit rather than bananas. The palate is medium bodied which is impressive considering the low alcohol and there’s good texture and a persistent length. Overall, a good representation of the style.
