Sour & Bitter Festival CPH 2012. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of licorice, toffee, bourbon, dark dried fruits, and a touch of ink. Sweetish licorice and chocolate flavour. Lots of alcohol and bourbon character, but well integrated. Tannin-like bitter finish adds balance.

Sample @ the Sour & Bitter event in Copenhagen. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a creamy brownish gray head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet with roasted malts, vanilla, sweetened coffee, liquorice fudge, wood, bitter chocolate and hints of pine and bourbon. Taste is very sweet and tiny bitter with dark sweet bread, quality chocolate, liquorice, fudge, wood, vanilla, bourbon, cookie dough, orange zest, toffee, brandy and hints of pine and orange zest. Mouthfeel is smooth, velvety and full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with chocolate, coffee, sweetened bread, orange zest and bourbon.

Draught Deep red-ruby highlights in black-brown beer. Deep, layered Bourbon-vanilla notes, in a dark malts and chocolate galore. Sweet, alcoholic, fruity flavours on top of the Crème Anglaise. Finish has a sharp roasted-bitter bite. Very rich, thick & onctuous. Incense in the aftertaste. A honourable last stand, General Geoffrey. Waiting for your own!

This was an awesome beer. Pours a totally black color with a small off-white head. A rich nose of huge chocolate and fruit, light sugary barrel. The flavor is very good; mixed up sweet barrels, vanilla, roast, sweet fruity hops and candies. Very different in subtle ways. Huge.

On tap at the source. Pours with a cola to black hued body with a lasting tan head. Aromas are of cola, bourbon, vanillin, alcohol, fudgy, dark fruits, raisins. Elegant barrel character. Flavors are of bourbon, cola, tobacco, dark fruits, barrels and a lot of vanilla. Boozy, raisin, vinous. Long duration. Brandy, cocoa, earthy. Very good. Medium bubbles. Possibly a touch thin. Very warming and enjoyable.
