In August 2023, we made our usual trip to our friend's hop farm to pick fresh, wet hops of the Celeia variety, named after the Roman name for the nearby city of Celje. Wet hops are unprocessed, freshly harvested hops used immediately after being picked from the hop bines. Unlike dried hops, which are more commonly used in brewing, wet hops retain a higher level of moisture and have a unique, vibrant character.
