Gouden Carolus Indulgence [Indulgence, noun, \in-'dәl-jәn(t)s\ something that is done or enjoyed as a special pleasure] is a limited series of beers brewed every year with varying content. These ‘Indulgence’ brews are exclusive delights to be savoured at special moments or shared with special people.

Cuvée Sauvage is the 2nd taste to be produced under this label. Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Rood was blended with 2- and 3-year-old Lambic (20%) from the Boon Brewery (Lembeek). This union combines the best of two brewing traditions: full-bodied and subtly flavoured, fruity and refreshingly sour.

Clear, or slightly opalescent golden colour, huge white head; aroma of dried apricot, grains, floral notes, some coriander and hints of acetone; taste is more sweet than sour with dried apricot, honey, orange peel spicy notes, slight balsamic acid and minimal acetone; spicy-peppery aftertaste; extraordinary beer!

0.75l bottle. Clear golden body with an enormous white head. Aroma of bread, honey, lemon zest, coriander and floral hops. Taste of bread, honey, lemon zest, a touch of vinegar and pears. The gueuze character is definitely noticable but doesn’t dominate. It was a very good idea to blend these beers and the outcome is amazing.

Bottle - Light bready, pepper and light herbal notes. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Very indescribable light sour fruity notes, peppery notes and a long finish. Fruity and sour, peppery notes and the big gold strong malts.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out fruity esters, floral notes, Belgian yeast, and light funk. Flavour is complex, with lots of Belgian yeast, barnyard funk, light-moderate and candied sugar. Complex and wonderfully integrated -- very impressive blend. Lovely.

Hazy and light tan. Not much head. There is some earthy, leathery lambic nose, but comes across on the palate more as sweetness, a bit of sticky character. The lambic lends some nice complexity. Not bad overall. This has a decent character, touch lambicy, and you get a nice Belgian strong character as well.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light candy sugar, light curacao, light Brett, light lactic notes, nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity orange malt with light Brett, light lactic notes, light curacao, pink grapefruit, nice and smooth. Veel potentie, maar nooit te jong. Licht zurig, lucht fruitig en licht hoppig met een volle body

Light and powerful. Some slight sourness from the lambic. Almost a saison on steroids.. expected more, to be honest.
