Gouden Carolus Indulgence [Indulgence, noun, \in-'dәl-jәn(t)s\ something that is done or enjoyed as a special pleasure] is a limited series of beers brewed every year with varying content. These ‘Indulgence’ brews are exclusive delights to be savoured at special moments or shared with special people.
Cuvée Sauvage is the 2nd taste to be produced under this label. Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Rood was blended with 2- and 3-year-old Lambic (20%) from the Boon Brewery (Lembeek). This union combines the best of two brewing traditions: full-bodied and subtly flavoured, fruity and refreshingly sour.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at Mum and Keigh’s, Kempsey, Nr Worcester, Worcestershire, Sunday 1st January 2017 New Years Day Pours a mucky lemony gold, with a sticky white filmy head. Yummily sweet and funky, Loz absolutely loves this, I really like this but Loz is the bigger fan. Fuzzy, buzzy fruity, leave this in your mouth swish it about, it’s fab’, actually I am starting to lean towards Loz’s camp, it’s great. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

75 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik, Vianen. Clear golden with a big white head. Malty aroma with some lambic funkiness ans some sour apples. Taste is sweet at first but it finishes dry like a lambic or champagne. Really good dinner beer as it is interesting and layered but not overpowering so.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy deep golden, mid sized head. Elderflowers and marzipan up front. Mid sweet with underlying citric tartness and medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. A mix of a lovely ale and a lovely lambic, that does not really comes out harmonious. Really good, but does not end up as the sum of its parts.

[Thank you for sharing!][750 ml. bottle sampled @ O.B.E.R. Kerstbierfestival 2016] Totally clear pale golden with no head. Smell is oily sweet white grape, lightly metallic, oxidized boozy, totally lacking all lambic funk. Taste is akin to cheap white wine, sparkling, very metallic, iron, zest, thin fizzy, devoid of all lambic funk, similar to cheap metallic white wine,.. Body is white wine & metallic. Meh, lacks all funk, real lambiek character & the base beer is all lost, bad marriage, maybe time will help a little bit but overall I am happy that I didn’t buy a bottle.
