Bottle at home in London. Pours hazy, amber-red with a thick, creamy, off-white head. Some slight tang on the nose, a bit of toast and caramel. Fairly sweet, definitely a bit too tangy, some piney bitterness, caramel, some underripe fruits. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, tangy malts, some light earth, pine, toasted bread. The tang is a bit off-putting, and I have to imagine this is not the way it ought to be. In the end, it’s just alright.

Bottled(330ml). -Pale brown coloured, small to medium off-white head, fruity alcoholic nose with notes of spices. Fair malty, well hopped, caramel and slight herbal with touch of spices in the finish. Once again very nice Forstner beer. Jahrgang 2008.

Bottle that ogivlado got at the brewpub and shared with me (thanks!). Vintage ’08 of course. Poured a red body with an off white head, strong carbonation, a bit fizzy. Sweet malty nose, fruity,some honey and hop. Caramel, light chocolate, orangey-biscuity... the maltiness here is lovely, sweet, earthy, balanced and tasty. A very nice beer indeed, but don’t come expecting an "Abbey Triple". This isn’t one, not by a long shot. It is, however a very pleasant, strong, Belgian style ale. More similar in taste to a traditional dubbel, better than most too. It’s so great to find these brewed in lands dominated by pale lagers.
