Dark brown, big nose, fruity and with a lot of rich malts. Deep, rich...to me an imperial porter but a really good beer.

Bottle at home from BEER:shop St Albans. Pour is dark caramel / red with a lasting light tan dense head. Aroma is liquorice, roast caramel, melanoidin, leather, light fudge. Some alcohol presence in the nose but it is under control. Hops in the nose are secondary but piney / earthy in nature. Flavour is initially malt forward with caramel, smooth roast, medium sweet dark sugar, then the hops kick in with pine and hints of grapefruit citrus. Palate is thick and slightly oily, but moderate carbonation lifts it off the tongue. The is a big bold ballsy black IPA.

Dark ruby color, small steady beige head, some lace. Milky, lactose aroma with some toasted notes. Medium-bodied. Flavor has crystal and roasted malts with notes of lactose. Finish has nice bitterness and lingering salty licorice. Not like CDAs more like well-hopped Foreign Stout.

Cask gravity at Wandsworth Halloween Beer Fest. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, caramel, aniseed, cola cubes, pine and dark fruit. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasty, pine, liquorice, dark fruit, berry, toast, mild acidity, charred wood and light alcohol with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and damn tasty.

33cl bottle, BB 26 MAY 14. Pours near black with a thin, lasting beige head. Tropical sweet fruity hoppy aroma, pineapples, kiwi with some milk chocolate notes. Flavor has roasted malt, hops, chocolate and grapefruit. Strong coffee and hops in the long finish. High drink-ability, medium to full bodied. Good BIPA, nice contrast between aroma and flavor.

Bottle from the Chesham Brewery Shop. Poured a very dark ruby with a thin tan head. Aroma of liquorice, black cherries and black treacle. Initial flavours of molasses, dark fruit and pine hops. Palate is burnt sugar, liquorice, roast malt and orange peal. Nice imperial variant on the highly quaffable original.

11/07/2013 330ml bottle (thanks Theydon:Bois!) shared @ Ma che siete venuti a fร . Bruna, riflessi mogano, schiuma quasi nulla, poco persistente. Al naso sentori di malti tostati, luppolo, note erbacee, diacetile, forse leggero lattico. In bocca รจ sporca, malti tostati, luppolo, corpo medio-pieno, consistenza eccessiva. Non in perfette condizioni, peccato.
