Once Iād added all my beery bits on RateBeer I was really surprised to find I had no records of drinking a beer from the county of Berkshire: today I rectify that omission, thanks to Colin for helping. Rightly or wrongly Iām pouring my 330ml bottle (BBD 26 May 2014) into a Forbidden Fruit chalice at home on 10 Jul 2013. It looked OK: bright sunlight always helps. Dark with a tanned collar and wisp, no head even tried to appear. A pity, because I always think a good head on top of a beer indicates good conditioning and a healthy product. In this case however the lack of head is made up for in the aroma and flavours. Lovely aroma of rich over roasted ground coffee with chilli chocolate bits in the mix. The taste is also over roasted coffee with deep, bitter chocolate notes throughout. Lovely brew, only the head let it down: rich and full of flavour.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks tomer. Dark brown to black. Aroma of piney hops, slightly stale, and light roastiness. Roasty flavor, a bit sweet, with a bit of chocolate, piney hops and a bitter finish with more hops and roastiness, a bit coffee-ish, with light smoky notes. Medium-bodied. Decent.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail
BBE 26 May 2014 - Pours pitch black with a bubbly white head. Aroma of grainy malts, some hints of roastiness and fruits. Taste is fruity, quite salty and mildly roasty with some hints of licorice, grassy hops and grainy malts. Finish is salty, hoppy and fruity with some mild roastiness and notes of licorice. Not your typical black IPA, but still quite tasty.

330ml bottle. Clear dark brown colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Excellent hop aroma, lots of grapefruit, blood orange, pine. Taste is initially minimally sweet dark malty, some chocolate, a touch of orange, later bitter hoppy, in the last third again slightly more malty and chocolately; lasting herbal, bitter hoppy finish, smooth palate.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2013. Black beer lasting beige head. Leafy hoppy aroma. Yes a good hoppy beer. Yes hits all the its big and hoppy ticks. Light in mouth at same time. Some syrupy alcohol comes through at end. Good though. Great aroma.
