Tasted at the big “SeaBass has got to go” tasting courtesy of jdubFL. 12oz bottle pours a nice ruby mahogany with thin off white head. The aroma is full of sweet dark fruity esters like prunes, cherries and slightly brighter berry notes and a touch of apple. The taste is similar with rich prunes, ripe cherries, some dark berry notes and sugar coated black currants mixing with rich malty sweetness. This is smooth and nice and just a little on the tart side.

Deep hazy red body, thin dissipating cream head. Nose of burnt caramels, toast, figs, and alcohol. Round, sweet body with toast, burnt, rounded caramels and toffee, figs, raisins, and prickly alcohol, with floral, spicy hops notes suggestive of spruce needles. Finish of tangy malts and spruce. A brandy-like, decadent sipper, complex, rich, rough, and ass-kicking. It’s been ages since I sipped a high-octane barleywine.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep red brown with a light tan head. Not much aroma other than some raisin and perhaps a little molasses. Flavor is pretty thin, mostly raisin, with some nuts, molasses, and a bit of grassy hops. Those flavors do intensify significantly as it warms a bit, though some alcohol starts to come out as well. The hops come across more floral and citrus as it warms. A tough beer to rate, really. Started out rough, but in the end, I enjoyed drinking it.
