Bottle shared thanks to mariuspoenari! Black with nice light brown head. Massive dried red fruits, black berries, lots of bourbon, marzipan, red apple, dark chocolate, some dried berry skins. Over medium sweet, under medium bitter and light sour. Full bodied with soft fizzy carbonation.

At Hopishop 2016. Aroma of booze, chocolate, red fruit and vanilla. Flavor of booze, vanilla, red fruit and chocolate. The main difference with the normal version is that this one is way more alcoholic. I don’t understand why they needed to make this version, the normal one is way better. But hey, nowaday Struise has to make everything a boozefest.

Draught Dark cream head; black beer. Not much nose, bit of whisky, bit nutty. Sweetish-liquorice, bit of chocolate, but not bitter one; even more chocolate in the aftertaste. Bit of alcoholwarmth, well bodied. Not much difference with the classical C.D.?

8 cl. @ ’t Schooltje. Very similar to modern Cuvee Delphine, didn’t taste much difference between the current batch. Black, thick solid dark mocha head. Nose is warming chocolate, syrup, thick chocolate syrup, basic, warming, bourbon, lots of alcohol,… Taste is big on very basic chocolate syrup, lots of alcohol, syrup, caramel, very warming, light green apple, huge syrup, boozy, light oak,… Syrup sludge,… Quite nice but not on par with what the old batches used to be in my opinion.

9/V/15 - on tap @ Struise Schooltje (Oostvleteren) - BB: n/a (2015-604)

Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, caramel, lots of vanilla, crème brûlée, bourbon, some alcohol, dark chocolate, cocoa powder. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: very sweet, caramel, mocha, dark chocolate, vanilla, bit sugary, alcohol. Aftertaste: little bitter, dark chocolate, somewhat fruity, dried fruits, hint of banana, alcohol, coffee, slightly sour, mocha, cocoa powder, dark chocolate. Most expensive sample ever, given the speed ticket while driving with the traffic flow in the Westhoek. :p

Pitch black 1 finger espresso head. smells like straight up bourbon and chocolate cake. really interesting. Wow, this is insanely boozy. Spicy finish, lots of dark chocolate fudge, some raisin. the alcohol burn is agressive and lingering.
