Slightly hazy golden and light straw coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall pure white head that stays slightly afloat, even after several minutes. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, light grass and resin with a good deal of malt, alcohol and some softer fruit-based sugars, but this really is about the hops, in a nice, pure, bitter way. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very citrusey flavours show at first with some grapefruit and tangerines along with a good dry herbal and slightly perfumey finish with the good malt and alcohol backbone that supports all the hops in an enticing manner with some apricot and stone fruits towards the end. Aftertaste shows mainly the dry and citrusey hops alongside some more definitive malt and slightly medicinal and astringent alcohol and bitterness, but the hops dominate on the end with grapefruit and a pure West Coast IPA flavour of the alcohol and bittering dry hops finishing it off nicely. Overall, a very nice 'real' West Coast IPA that shows the hops, a substantial amount of malt to support it, and no real gimmicks of lactose, sweetness or sour flavours - this is a pure beer that shows hop lovers what they want, but giving them enough malt to support and balance all the hops out in a great way. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Krisp Market (BestDamnBeerShop) in San Diego, California on 31-January-2020 for US$5,49 sampled at home on the other end of the country in Washington on 14-April-2020.
