12 oz. bottle, sent generously by aplusbreaks (thanks a lot, Austin), pours a deep dark mahogany with a tiny head. Pretty hot on the nose, full of rich bourbon barrels, a subtle presence from the cherries, and alcohol - smells rich and intense. Flavour is extremely decadent bringing out equal parts complex bourbon barrels and potent sour cherries - the sourness not being overwhelming at all, but instead perfectly situated amongst the bourbonized complexity. The 15+% is almost completely masked with only a light tickle on the back of the throat. Extremely thick body, with the sour cherries used expertly. Sour stouts never usually impress me, but this is easily the best take on the style I've had. Awesome stuff and my favourite of the Barrel-Aged Series so far.

Big thanks to daknole for sharing this one. This is nuts man! It pours deep darkness with deep infra red edges and mocha head. The aroma is simply huge and complex and weird and interesting. I get burnt smoky spinach, roasted figs, black licorice, black chocolate bar, grocery store produce aisle, mushed up dates, coconut, graham cracker and charred brown sugar. Whew! There is tons going on here but it all works well together. The taste hits with loads of coconut, sweet cherry juice, sweet black current jam and then it runs into molasses covered wood, more molasses, caramel covered graham cracker, toffee and chocolate. Holy hell this is something else. Good gravy!!

Huge thanks to Aaron for sharing - dark brown to black pour, with an impressive lace for something with such high abv - loads of earthy cherry in the nose (skin, flesh, pit) - light oak and chocolate - smells fantastic - flavor is pretty hot - I know it is 15%, but it sure does burn - cherry flavor is fairly dull at this stage - not at all as vibrant as the in the nose - surprisingly dry, with lots of roastiness and char - some moderate chocolate truffle sweetness on the tail end works okay with what little cherry is left - lots of heat in the finish - wish it tasted as good as it smelled - perhaps if I had it fresh? - seems to be declining fast.
