500ml bottle from Tusk Festival @ Star & Shadow, Newcastle. Pours a lovely murky dark brown with a gorgeously malty brown ale taste together with a slight sweetness & some caramel. Proper beer, as the label says.

Brown ale at Guildford Arms, hand-pulled cask, half pint. Clear. mahogany coloured body, filmy, beige head. Malt-fruity smell, semi-sweet. Taste of nuts, chocolate and resinous bitterness towards the ending. Not quite there (Edinburgh 09.04.2012).
