This English Special Bitter is our “Special Ale.” Special because it is one of only a handful of canned microbrews in the nation. Special because the Galena hops and pale ale malts create a crisp first sip, a hoppy tongue, and a malty sweet finish. Though “bitter” is part of the name, “better” would be a more accurate term.
Fresh and lively, this canned beer suits the needs of any outdoor enthusiast. Like it says on the can: Fish, Luau, Golf, Raft, Toboggan. Ska can!

355ml can @ Pannuhuone, Kuopio
Pours orange with a minimal white head. Aroma has mild fruit notes and hints of caramel malts. Taste is quite sweet and malty with hints of fruits. Sticky and sweet finish. A bit unbalanced, doesn’t really taste like an ESB but a low-ABV and overly sweet IIPA.

355ml can at Håndverkerstuene successfully paired with homemade sauerkraut. Served slightly chilled. Hazy, orange coloured body. Filmy layer at the surface. Aroma of earthy, sweet malts along with resin and pumpkin. Bittersweet fruits in flavour and with herbal hops and hints of pumpkin. Lingering bittersweet ending. Medium bodied. Satisfying (Oslo, 27.09.2011).

355 ml can @ Patricks. Almost clear, amber body with a light off-white head. Fine aroma of malt, caramel and fruit. Flavor is quite light malty, some fruit, light caramel and decent bitterness. Medium body. Sounds pretty in the middle everywhere, and somehow that’s what it is – but in a fine and well composed way. A really nice thirst-quencher.

Can. A two finger off-white head settles soon over a hazy orange golden body. The aroma is mixing malts and hops in a nice way, with grass and some resin. The flavor is more pushing on the hops but far from extreme. Nice bitterness, malty sweetness and some grass and pinecones. Medium to full body, smooth. Pleasant finish. Sure a nice bitter. 110909

(Can, 0.355 l, at Pikkulintu, 20110716) Thr beer poured amber and quite clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had molasses, sweetness, caramell and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, mild saltiness, sweetness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Way too sweet for an ESB but still flawless.
