1 finger brown head, deep black pour. Tons of chocolate and roastiness. Sweet, mellow finish, burnt coffee beans, a bit of astringency and charred oak. Nice but a bit thin for a 10% beer.

Bottle. Pours with a black hued body with brown highlights and a lasting deep brown head with really good lace and retention. Aromas are bready, biscuity, dry, bitter roast, bakers chocolate, light herbal hop, coffee, nice roast, iodine, backstrap molasses, tar, lightly citrusy and earthy qualities. medium alcohol, vanilla and very light esters. Smells dry. Flavors are dry, roasty and very bitter. Black IPA hoppiness. This beer seems to be in the same vein as Stone’s RIS. Very bitter, citrusy, herbal hop character, bready malt, medium dry roast presence (seems character malts are more toast than caramel). Pretty clean yeast wise. A few burnt flavors, molasses. Medium carbonation, full bodied, lingering bitterness, dry warming and roasty (but not astringent or acrid). Solid and potent.

12 oz bottle from Hopper; thanks a bunch! Nose is chocolate, toffee, and light vanilla, black with reddish brown edges and a small cinnamon tan head head that laces lightly but dissippates quickly. Flavor is chocolate with moderate pepperiness and light bitterness with a chocolatey and coffee laced finish.

Thanks to ericandersnavy for this one! Pours black with a very slight tan head - very transient head. Rich, roasty, toffee, burnt malt in the aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is rich burnt malt with treacle/toffee. Quite a good sipper. I have no idea how to describe the colossal hop component. But this finishes nicely bitter as well as treacle. Dang good stuff.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a dark brown with small frothy tan head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is grapefruit and pine. Medium mouthfeel with bitter hop and nice lingering bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink, a good Imperial stout from Real Ale.

On tap at anvil. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces beautifully. Aroma is full of roasted malts with a bit of coffee and some bitter chocolate. Flavor begins with strong roasted malts backed by some espresso and dark grains. A bit of booze in the finish.
