375 ml bottle bought through Brill & Co. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with with a rather small white head that leaves some lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet with caramel, alcohol (cognac), vanilla, dried sweet dark fruits, green grapes, toffee, wood, honey, marzipan, glue, grass and hints of habanero chili. Taste is very sweet and very tiny tart with caramel, toffee, vanilla, fudge, lemon zest, cognac, dark grapes, prunes, wood, grass, wet earth tobacco,  Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, boozy and full bodied, finish is sweet with caramel, brandy, vanilla, wood, honey, hazelnuts, alcohol and orange zest. Note sure the very high abv adds that much to the beer but all in all it’s a very nice and intense brew.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. The nose is all sweet and lovely Cognac and sticky toffee with surprisingly well hidden booze. Solid body, lowish carbonation, sweet caramel and again lots of Cognac flavours. Not so much of a wood character really but somewhat minerally. The booze really builds up towards the finish. A wonderful sipper. The barrel has really tamed this monster of a beer. 030412
