Bottle. Light hazy deep amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, wort, raw sugar, toffee, wood, cognac, vanilla, caramel and sweet alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, dried fruit, wood, vanilla and cognac. Medium bodied with low carbonation with viscous liquid. Really nice but overpowering.

Very hazy amber beer, tidy off white head. Removing th cap gives a lovely nose of aged Port wine and toffee. Pouring the beer brings an unwelcome niff of blue cheese. Palate is smooth and dry with fine carbonation. Smooth malt with dry cream. Caramel - toffee and wood, slightly aged tasting, again as if from a fine old Port. A little spice but not much alcohol heat. Blue cheese follows the nose. Sweetish dried fruits, well buried. Dry finish. If not for the blue cheese this could be great.

The bottle has been open all night and day. It now pours far less hazy and all the blue cheese aromas and flavours are gone. Emphasis is now on lovely toffee malt, mellow cognac and wood. Little dried fruits. Lovely!

Bottle at home. The colour is clear reddish amber with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel, pine apple, oak, alcohol and liqueur. Powerful and sweet flavour as well with the addition of vanilla, alcohol and more caramel. Reminiscent of creme brulee. Slick and sticky mouth feel, and has a light bitterness. Powerful, sweet but balanced. A real dessert beer.

Bottle. A hazy one, dark golden in color and topped by a dense, off-white to light beige head. Quite alcoholic on the nose, with dried fruits, piney hops, tropical fruits, some malty sweetness and a little touch of grapes. Nice, but nothing more. The flavor though is on another level, sort of balanced, and really pleasant, with some chocolate, sweetness, dried fruits, bitterness and booze. Lasting finish. Pleasant indeed, but the aroma is a bit disappointing. Good thing the aroma isn’t the most important part of the experience. 120915
