Wells Bowman Stout (abv: 5.2%) was first brewed in the late 19th Century as Wells Family Stout. The Bowman name was introduced in the 1950's and since then the brand has been subtly altered to compliment the palate of today's stout drinker. It is brewed to a style and recipe that dates back to the 1700s.

Bouteille: Very deep ruby-amber coloured, mid-sized and very slowly collapsing loose tanned head; sweetish coffeeish fruity and toasty nose with a light dry ashy Background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and pretty smooth;ashes, bitter chocolate and cacao in the drier vinous-fruity finish, accompanied by a very delicate acidity. Nice stuff...

(bottle) Black coloured hue with a beige and firm mid-sized foamy head. Moderately roasty and slightly earthy malty aroma with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and traces of cocos. Roasty bitter and slightly sweet flavour, rather light bodied with a soft carbonation. Slim roasty malty start with notes of liquorice, cacao, crusty oat bread and shades of vanilla; a tad slim roasty malty finish. Could have had a bit more body. 15.VIII.14

Sehr dunkelbraunes Bier mit leicht rötlichem Schimmer, ordentliche bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Kaffee und Schokolade. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, erdig, trocken schokoladig, Kaffee.

500ml bottle. Dark brown colour with small to average, thick, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Dark malty aroma with a roasty touch, hints of chocolate, instant coffee, coffee surrogate, sugary hints of artificiality. Taste is roasty dark malty, hints of cold coffee, instant coffee, a herbal/spicy touch of chicory, coffee surrogate, coffee-bitterness. Unsatisfactory, encourages to reconsider one’s criteria about artificiality.

Bottle 0.5l at home, Oulu. Originally rated 25022012. Colour is dark brown with small head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Not bad.

Bottle. Aroma mostly roasted, cocoa, coffee, light chocolate. Almost black colour, brown head. Taste is lightly burnt, cocoa, coffee. Overall mostly roasted. Mouthfeel is quite smooth. Too roasted for my taste. Really dry, lack of sweet balance. Otherwise fine stout.

Bottle kindly donated by fajry, many thanks. Very dark brown color with huge beige head. Roasted malt, coffee in aroma. Coffee, dark chocolate in taste together with licorice, dark fruits. Good.

Bottled, 0.50l. Clear dark brown color with large frothy brownish head, decent lacing, small floating particles and lively tiny bubbles. Aroma of caramel, coffee, smoke, herbal hops and vanilla. Taste starts with rich roasted malt, followed by fresh grassy notes. Mouthfeel is astringent, while aftertaste is moderately bitter and quite long. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Totally cool stout...

50 cl bottle. Dark with a ok lightbrown head. Light aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, daek fruits and coffee sence after a while. Sweet taste with a roasted end. Full bodied and quite creamy. ok, but want more
